The SmartSource Adaptive check scanner is the most flexible MICR-enabled check and document imaging solution available - and is capable of scanning a wide variety of intermixed document types.

Based on the successful SmartSource Series check imaging platform, the Adaptive incorporates many of the proven features first introduced on the SmartSource Professional check scanner and SmartSource Expert Check Scanner models. Standard functionality is the unique track design and unmatched endorsement capabilities on this latest addition to the Burroughs check scanner family.

Ease of Operation

The new open feeder reduces document preparation requirements and enables one-handed loading of documents by automatically opening when empty. The SmartSource Adaptive can be configured to start feeding automatically when documents are loaded into the feeder, with the touch of a button, or through software control. In case of a document jam, the SmartClear button eliminates the need to open or remove covers to retrieve the document.

Low Operator Maintenance

The SmartSource Adaptive is engineered to process high volumes of daily items, yet it requires minimal maintenance. When needed, cleaning is easy. Often, all that is required is a rapid cleaning procedure which uses a cleaning card and does not require opening or removing any covers. The optional ink-jet endorser uses a custom ink formulation which eliminates the need for operators to clean the cartridge.

Standard Features

The SmartSource Adaptive is a perfect fit in any PC-based environment. Its extensive set of features offers unparalleled flexibility. Standard features include an auto-feeder with an open feeder design for improved productivity, industry-leading Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) reader, high-quality image with 300 dpi image cameras, and endorsement decisions based on MICR and/or front image content such as optical character recognition, bar code recognition, or image quality results.

Optional Features

Optional features include Optical Character Recognition (OCR), a front franking stamp, and a 4-line graphics-capable rear ink-jet endorser. The 4-line rear ink-jet endorser supports any Microsoft true-type font and eliminates the need for a separate receipt/validation printer. In addition to endorsing customerdeposited checks, the SmartSource printer is capable of validating internal cash tickets and an array of teller documents including customized customer deposit receipts, envelopes, and even official checks.
