The SmartSource Expert series, with its built in Network interface card allows you to process items without the use of a local PC.

On-board check processing eliminates security risks by performing quality and security analysis at the time of capture, and the SmartSource Expert series comes with the same set of features available on our popular Expert series scanners. Standard features include an auto-feeder with an open feeder design for improved productivity, Magnetic Ink Character recognition (MICR) reader, and image cameras. You choose the speed, hopper capacity, number of output pockets, and endorsement that matches your workload requirements. Optional features like Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and front franking are available for special application needs such as remittance processing or remote deposit capture. Many of these features can be upgraded at your location (on-line) as your business requirements expand.

Improved Efficiency

The new open feeder reduces document preparation requirements and enables easy loading of documents by automatically opening the input hopper when empty. The SmartSource Expert can be configured to start feeding automatically when documents are loaded into the feeder. In case of a document jam, the SmartClear button eliminates the need to open or remove covers to retrieve the document.

The SmartSource Professional is engineered to process high volumes of daily items, yet it requires minimal maintenance. When needed, cleaning is easy. Often, all that is required is a rapid cleaning procedure which uses a cleaning card and does not require opening or removing any covers. The optional ink-jet endorser uses a custom ink formulation which eliminates the need for operators to clean the cartridge. The result is more time for the operator to be productive servicing their clients, and less time spent on periodic maintenance and consumable replacement.

Advanced Features

The SmartSource Expert uses onboard intelligence to perform Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) read, 300 dpi image capture and compression, image quality decisions, franking, and endorsement all in real-time at up to 120 documents per minute. Pocket decisions can be made based on MICR and/or front image content such as OCR, barcode recognition, or image quality results. Internal processing serves to reduce network traffic. A digital signature is applied at time of capture within the device, eliminating image security risks. 48 MB of internal memory serves as storage for up to 1000 document images making it possible for document processing operations to continue during periods when the network is interrupted or data transfer rates are reduced due to increased network traffic. The SmartSource Expert device offers a backlit LCD display to communicate operational status and/or exception conditions directly to the operator. The SmartSource Expert also includes the capability to scan a variety of documents, such as ATM envelopes and very short pieces of paper (less than three inches [7.6 cm] in length).
